A glove with an I.R. led on the index finger is used with Uwe Schmidt's Java Wiimote Whiteboard. A demonstration is given using OS X. For step-by-step building instructions, go to http://smv.unige.ch/members/risoldi/otherdocs/an-infrared-glove-for-the-wiimo...
To calculate the right resistor value according to the led and batteries you are using, go to http://led.linear1.org/1led.wiz

Why do you point the LED backwards? Does it actually have to face the Wiimote? And if so, how come there are vidoes of people pointing the Wiimote at their screen, and then using an IR pen they made, with the led pointing towards the screen? I would really like to do this. Just wanted some more info. Thanks a lot, and great video!

@murkan14 It depends on the led type, on the wiimote position and on the lighting conditions really. Most LEDs emit their light in a rather narrow cone, so if they are facing forward the light would not be very visible to a wiimote even from a lateral position. Some LEDs like e.g. some OSRAM models emit their light at an almost 180° angle, so they might be visible even when facing the screen. Of course it also depends on what angle the wiimote sits with respect to the screen, on the amount of s

Yeah...I'm dumb...noticed after I posted. Do you happen to use track IR with it as well? If so, how well do they work together? If you don't, do you happen to know how well they work together. Last question...I'm going to go get the parts tomorrow along with a will remote...I see some people use a watch battery. Other than obvious battery life issues, is there any other perk to using AA's or AAA's? Do you happen to know a page with video or pics in making? Thanks again.

@skyboundpilot I did not use track IR, so I don't know how well they work together. About the batteries, apart from battery life and battery price I see no downsides to using watch batteries. Just pay attention to the voltage, most watch batteries are 1.2-1.3V instead of 1.5, you'll have to adjust the resistor accordingly.

@skyboundpilot Oh also I would recommend you get a battery pack for the Wiimote that can be plugged to a power source while using. The Wiimote batteries drain very fast while tracking. You can find some on DealExtreme, search for "Wiimote battery USB". They typically have low capacity batteries, but then again you shouldn't care as you can leave it plugged in while in use.

Are you using a wii remote in the background? I'm just learning this concept. Thanks!

@skyboundpilot Yes, around 1:15 you can see the wiimote is sitting on a stool, pointed at the TV.
