DANNY GLOVER, BOBBY JACKSON TEAM WITH LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS TO
GIVE 500 TURKEY DINNERS TO SINGLE-PARENT AND NEEDY FAMILIES!
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- In the spirit of generosity, community and looking out for our fellow human beings,
actor Danny Glover, former NBA star Bobby Jackson, filmmaker Deon Taylor and Good Day Sacramentos Mark S. Allen are joining efforts to give away 500 turkey dinners to single-parent and needy families on Sunday, Dec. 20 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Country Club Plaza, 2310 Watt Avenue, Sacramento, CA, 95825.
Sponsored by Country Club Plaza, KSFM 102.5 and Tree of Hope Funding, the event is for single-parent families affected by the struggling economy, loss of jobs, disabilities, abuse and other needs. Besides the food
giveaway, we will have many surprises for participating families such as music, media personalities, store giveaways and a very heartfelt surprise from the children of the Elk Grove Montessori School, said producer director Deon Taylor, whose film and television studio, Deon Taylor Enterprises, is spearheading the event.
Organizers are accepting monetary and food donations from grocery stores, food distributors, companies, schools, churches and individuals to make this event happen. For instance, schools, churches and non-profits may want to hold canned food drives collecting items as corn, yams, peas, green beans and cranberry sauce and turkey donations also are welcome. The deadline for donations is Dec. 16.
Im always looking for wonderful community events to get behind, said Danny Glover, star of the Lethal
Weapon movies, Angels in the Outfield and the current blockbuster 2012. Im really looking forward to
coming to Sacramento to be a part of something that helps needy families like this.
More details will be announced as corporations, companies, schools, churches and others sign on as sponsors or partners. There is no charge to participating families, who can be screened through the Roberts Family Development Center at (916) 646-6631 or Travelers Aid at (916) 399-9646. To donate to the effort, please call Deon Taylor Enterprises, (916) 448-2388.
