  • is this with wiley or soyer?

  • It's a 2003 recording, so I'm assuming Wiley.

This is with Soyer. They actually didn't record this piece with Wiley. This is a remastered edition of the Beethoven recordings done in the late 60's, I believe. Shame that there are only a little more than a 1000 views. Nothing, in my opinion, comes close to the Guarneri's interpretation.

  • @fiddleher1 Thanks! I'm not a string player, and won't pretend to be knowledgeable on various quartets, but I am a musician (a pianist and a music theorist), and definitely believe this recording is a cut above the others I've heard. I'm glad you appreciate it. Thanks again for clarifying the history of this recording. Beethoven's late quartets are a force to be reckoned with, and I love great interpretations. Let me know if you have suggestions of equally fantastic versions of the quartets!
