I'd bring a crowbar. A titanium one is very light but durable, has great range for melee AND you can easily open doors with it, which is VERY handy in a situation where you're constantly looking for food and shelter.

Firearms are not an option for me since I'm in France.

@TheWeedBroski Well, besides that. To be quite honest, I plan on abandoning my family. I know it may sound terrible, but its just extra luggage. But, IF a family member turns, I would just lock them up, or suck it up, and put them out of their misery.

In terms of wear:Overalls would be a great choice because they have around 10 pockets and they are better for menuverbility
