Deadline is 2012 Derek. That's the likely timeframe for Chaz. He's gotta shoot for the Olympic team. He basically has to show he can crawl before he can walk to ANY Senior caps. If he is still slow to improve at that point he's gonna have to rely on injuries to players ahead of him and actually PLAY to get close to a Confed Cup/2013 Gold Cup/and 2014 WC.

People should relax. Injuries like this have to first heal properly (feb-may '11), then it takes a year to re-find your rhythm. So Summer of 2012 is when Charlie will be back in form. His career is far from over.

Why doesn't the USMNT ever play a 4-5-1? i mean we have so many Mids right now killing it in Europe and so few Strikers doing well! As for Davies, I think its still too early to tell if he can return to his pre accident form. IMO if we had the Charlie Davies who scored against Spain and Mexico for the WC, we would have put in another goal against Ghana. maybe he wont have the same speed he used to have, but does raul look like the flash for shalke 05?

I think the problem with the Raul reference is that being an in-the-box ball poacher, like Raul, a la Gary Lineker, is a skill set all on its own and not one that Charlie has shown the proclivity for consistently... Traditionally, Charlies best weapons were his strength, and speed. Right now, Charlie says his strength is back, but his speed is only 75%... It makes for frustration when one of your major weapons is missing.
