According to Wikipedia, CGP stands for Certified Guitar Player and is an honorary title given by Chet Atkins. He has only named four: John Knowles, Tommy Emanuel, Steve Wariner, and Jerry Reed.

It's not so easy as he makes it look. John Knowles is such a great fingerpicker. Chet Atkins didn't designate him as a "Certified Guitar Player" for nothing.

The guy holds a PhD in physics besides being a guitar virtuoso, by the way.
