The Red Sox have reportedly signed Paul McAnulty to a minor league contract.
McAnulty, sort of a Matt Stairs-lite, has hit .208/.324/.330 in 212 at-bats with the Padres over the last four years. He's been an excellent OBP guy in the minors and he has 20-homer power, but given that he turns 28 next spring, he could be running out of time to establish himself. If he makes the Red Sox, it will likely be as the last man on the bench.
