Nashville, Tennessee (The Hermitage)

In Nashville liegt das wunderschöne Herrenhaus "The Hermitage", das Wohnhaus von Andrew Jackson, dem 6.Präsidenten der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika und seiner Frau Rachel. Nicht nur das Haupthaus, auch die kleineren Gebäude und ehemalige Sklavenhäuser in der weitläufigen Parkanlage sind sehr gut erhalten und werden liebevoll gepflegt. Andrew Jackson und seine ganze Familie sind hier begraben.

Although TN was part of the CSA, there weren't many grand plantations nor Greek-revival mansions like "The Hermitage". The architecture is wonderous & there is so much splendor in the beauty, just from the front view alone. Imagine carriages lining up, dropping off beautiful southern belles in wide crinoline hoop skirts, visiting for a grand ball inside. It's a good thing that the plantation had lots of maids to clean it. I surely wouldn't have wanted to nor would my sister in her ruffled skirts
