Front view of releasing a bowling ball was taken at a Ballistics Lab in 1979 and shot a 2,000 frames per second. Notice that this a release of the pre-modern era.

  • wow, slo mo really shows how much torque the fingers are getting. maybe that's why my finger tips show so much wear and tear!

  • When we took these videos, we were also surprised at how much torque was put on the fingers! Interesting.

  • that release is bush league

  • Didn't I say that in my introduction? "Notice that this a release of the pre-modern era." Check out how Don Carter and Dick Weber released the ball.

  • @TheAmpad thats what you are ment to do with any style of bowling your thumb is ment to come out the ball first and then your fingers this guy might have finger tip plugs in his bowling ball so only up to your first knuckle on your fingers are in the ball just above your nail so it makes it easyer to release the ball off your fingers when bowling with high RPM so you dont break your fingers

  • @rallyden How the hell do you get your thumb out of the ball first when the fingers are barely in the finger holes and the thumb is all the way in the thumb hole?

I tear the skin on my thumb when I try to get my thumb out first the last2 times I bowled..

  • Man I love these videos. THey are very helpful. My biggest wonder when I began bowling was seeing exactly how the ball was to be released from my fingers.

  • guessing anywhere from 3-5 revs down the lane

  • This is an "old school" release, where the thumb is frozen at 10 oclock, all thru the swing. It is still very effective, unless the lanes are really flooded. Then its usually better to get behind the ball a little more. Cool Video!!

  • i like this video.. :)

  • It's a simple release that works and is easy to repeat. That doesn't make it "bush league", in my opinion. Thanks for the videos.
