On February 2, 2010, Sen. Begich spoke before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee in support of Alaskan Larry Persily. Sen. Begich recommended Mr. Persily to President Obama for the position of Alaska Natural Gas Transportation Project Federal Coordinator.
Mr. Persily's confirmation would be a step forward for the largest jobs-producing project on Alaska's horizon.
