In mid-January, 2009, the waves by Huntington Beach pier were small, but the water was crystal clear. At times, it looked like the surfers were riding glass.

  • ill take good waves in murky water. thats not even 2-3 thats like 0-1

  • @robbylynchable - no argument there really. my intent was to capture the phenomenon which is very uncommon for huntington beach. i was tempted to go get my board and go out just for the experience, but if i want a ride, i'm going to wait for way better waves than that.

  • didn't think it was possible for the water to be that clear.

  • @yamofaka not around huntington beach, anyway

  • Looks drinkable =S

  • haha it looks like a wave pool

  • @ARSWebDesign It gets that clear down in San Diego as well on flat days. Guess its good if u want to fish, but its to mushy to do anything.

  • I live at 22nd street in HB and I've been surfing for about seven years on a daily basis and I can stat that this was the clearist day at HB since I lived here. I remember actually surfing that day.. I believe I did more swimming underwater than surfing lol, but I was taking advantage of this day. What a rare video.. thanks for uploading.

  • The water's always that clear in the gulf coast, but good waves are a rarity

  • @SeanfromHawaii82 i bet u the waves are bigger though

  • Woah!! That's surreal! I'm still pretty new to surfing myself, so those waves combined with the crystal look pretty nice to me! Ah one day I'm sure I'll be stoked to see double overs! thanks for sharing this video! :)

  • @SeanfromHawaii82 - and lucky you if you're there to enjoy it. as you might gather from many of the other comments, that definitely isn't the case here - as much as we might want it to be.

  • @Th3M4g1cM4n

Yep. Lotta murky water along that coast.

  • that's a dream..
