I might add that because Ernie and Denise were contracted to the Nine Network they couldn't appear live on Countdown to perform the song - so the ABC produced this clip

This clip was produced for Countdown and features Brian May and the ABC Showband who for the first 3 years of the show would re-record the backing tracks and the acts would sing live vocals in the studio - based on the Top of The Pops model

Wow.. this was sung so often to ME back then ! And I was going out with a guy called Paul in 1974. I did like the song too and thought Ernie and Denise did a great job. Paula

Ding Dong....one of the funniest woman on australian television. A wicked sense of humour. I love it when she was Daryl's sidekick on Hey hey Its Saturday. She always upstaged that unfunny Daryl so much that she didn't last long. He certainly didn't want someone funnier than him (which wouldn't be hard).

Denise is easily the best female performer on Australian TV.

I prefer Ernie Sigley to Neil Mitchell. Mitchell deserves to get sacked from 3AW, he's a major arsehole.
