Running "Sunshine Rapid" on Stoney Creek River. Tried to punch the left side of the hole(river left) with a little bit of an angle, to use the hole to spin the boat. Ended up not having enough power/speed to get through, got sucked back in, flipped upstream on my off-side and rolled. Good thing too, because the next set of rapids came up real quick and were about 150yards long and rocky.
In hindsight, a righting pry could have been used(need to get an instinctual one) to keep the canoe upright. Also needed to paddle with more power to punch the hole, but wasn't paddling full power yet, as we just put-on above the rapid. No warm up.
