  • Thanks again Clive for putting these gems on. I was 14 years old when this was recorded and on a days' leave' from publicschool when I heard this first. They neer found out where I'd gone !!

  • @smithywess1 Thanks for the comment.

it's one of my favourites too.

    John

  • @smithywess1 It wasn't Clive smithywess1, 'twas jphar.

    Still good though.

    John

  • is this recorded from live audience? just curious because subscription tells something from 1954 festivals?? do you know which festival was it?

They're playing it really well...and this one is really good quality if it's recorded live.

  • Hi pexteri,

The recordings were made at the Royal Festival Hall in London in October, 1954.

I was aged 19 at the time and lucky enough

to have been there, I still love them.

  • Whoa! Never really been into Jazz of any sort, but this is GORGEOUS!

Thanks for posting it and making me a little less heathen.

  • Thanks for uploading this one, years ago I left this record on the windowsill in the sun, it didn't do it a lot of good! I too remember Ottilie at that Exeter concert and she was on top form that night and the crowd went wild after closer walk with thee

  • Hi Oldblueslover, are you going to upload some of your music ?

    John

  • I've got a stack of vinyl's - mostly Trad and mostly Chris. Thinking I was going to have the same problem, I got hold of a little gem of a programme called Rip Vinyl. Transfered them from the record player onto CD's. I remember a concert in Exeter when Ottilie Patterson sang 'Just a closer walk with thee'. That was just something else - out of this world.

  • I've bought this EP on my first trip in England, more than thirty years ago. It's now unusable, so many thanks for this uploading.
