Definitive. Courageous. Emotionally draining. First classic of the 21st Century. A searing tale of a possible future for all. Relentless, emotionally challenging, genre defying and both life affirming and changing. If ever your sense of the presence or absence of God is going to be challenged in a book- this is it.

  • I'm currently reading this book. According to my ereader app I'm about sixty percent through it. lol. I have to take breaks, though, 'cause it's so very bleak and depressing.

  • I really liked this book. If I remember correctly, the book does describe something about cities being on fire. That suggests to me nukes.

    Good review.

  • @Vyourtchenko64 You have no sense of appreciation for the elements in the book/film. Perhaps you cannot fathom the loneliness and devastation depicted in the book. You need to go watch some cartoons or something. This book is not for young kids.

  • I love your passion!! :D

    Great book.

  • i couldn't understand his language especially the geology and made up words.

  • I almost never read a book in one sitting, this book came extremely close, excellent read, very stimulative.

  • A lot of folks like to sling around "instant classic" and other labels to every half-decent book or film that comes out, but I honestly think - love it or hate it - that 'The Road' is one of the very few worthy of the claim. I seriously think this deserves to be looked back on as the 'Moby Dick' of its era in years to come.

  • I think its a great idea to make a book where there is virtually no plot. It makes it a masterpiece. We aren't supposed to understand parts of it, because its being told from reality's point of view. Its almost as if the author is trying to give out some sort of subliminal message and in reality we wouldn't have detailed explanations about what is happening, thats what makes it a must read!

  • I have a few questions. 1 (I know it is geek++ but..) Has anyone put forth a comprehensive explanation for the appocalypse? BTW I know there are many options - nuclear winter, global warming, a nanotechnological disaster, a combination of the above. 2 Does the book fail in conveying suitable reasons for the mother to commit suicide? Also is she literally blind? 3 Does the book fail in its soft ending? Does it fail to give us a sense of what is to come? I would love to read your thoughts.

  • @Vyourtchenko64 I understand... The book isnt really supposed to have a plot, its like a really big diary entry. As for the characters, i think that was the intended thing by the author, to give you a lonely, helpless feeling when you read it.
