  • Did you cut the plexiglass yourself or have it cut and if so where ?Did you use the old rubber molding or buy a new one ?I worked at boler in Winnipeg 40 years ago (U- student summer job)& this was one of my duties..Who'd believe I'd be doing it again now ?

  • I had it cut at a place called Industrial Paint and Plastics. Probably could have done it myself though.

I purchased new rubber beading and lockstrip from Scamp trailers in the US

  • I think I used a small dab of caulking or I was thinking of using caulking.

Some of the bolts may just be sitting in there waiting for a sealant. I make sure the hole is small enough that I have to screw the bolt in as opposed to pushing it in.

  • Using screw drivers is not a good idea on any window. a good trick is to insert a small power saw type pull rope into the rubber grove. lay the window against the rubber and simply pull on one of the rope tag ends, the rope will come out of the rubber molding pulling the rubber lip with it and around the glass. this concept works excellent with all t types of window installs. {:o)

  • I heard about that trick after the installation was done.

    thanks

  • Is the window your standard plexiglass, or is it a specialty item made specifically for your Boler?

  • Regular Plexiglass

I took the old one out and used it as a templatee to get a new tinted one cut.

I then painted the old window and use it as a rock guard/sun shade.

  • Pam cooking spray and a plastic spatula, get the window in track on the bottom, spray the leading edge and slip the spatula between the glass and the rubber, spray ahead all the way around and the spatula will slide along nicely leaving the rubber on top and the window in track:) 20 minute job!!

  • Thanks for posting these. I have a 1975 Boler 1300 I'm working on. Got my rubber gasket and lockstrip from Scamp trailer website. Everything looks exactly like yours. I'm having an issue with the gasket puckering at the corners after installed on the trailer. Did you run into this? It doesn't seem to want to follow such a small radius curve. This will undoubtedly trap moisture and end up leaking worse than before. Any thoughts?

  • Awesome. Love all of your videos. I am working on a 1973 Boler 1300 right now and will be replacing the windows later this summer. I think I'll try the rope technique too. One question about the stainless bolts I see you have replaced the factory rivets with. What did you use as a washer to make it rain/waterproof???

  • Sir, thanks for the video.

Where can you find those window holding strips?
