Memorial Christian Hospital was started in Werkok, Sudan by Partners in Compassionate Care (PCC), to meet the needs of the nearby Dinka villages, which had no source of medical help. PCC is a group of ordinary people who saw desperate needs in a war-torn land and committed to act on our conviction that we could bring solutions through partnership. We model our actions on the teachings of Christ, and our mission is to provide hope and healing for the people of Southern Sudan by partnering with like-minded organizations and individuals. We started as a group of nine, some of whom had served as American parents to the Lost Boys and Girls of Sudan who arrived in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 2000. When Sudanese church leaders invited us to visit Werkok to see how difficult everyday Sudanese life can be, nine of us traveled to Sudan in 2004, at our own expense, to assess medical care in Southern Sudan. What we saw were unbelievably poor living conditions and nearly nonexistent health care, but we also saw an amazingly vibrant Christian church. And so we formed Partners in Compassionate Care. We invite you to join us as partners in caring for the people of Southern Sudan.
