Ho, yeah, hey!
Pegasus steps forth with some music once again. Good? Bad? You decide.
These videos are a little sample of what the Genesis' awesome sound chip(s) could deliver.
While the SNES had a chip with a lot more of potential that gained fame because it could sample instruments, YM2612 got forgotten - It wasn't a fair competition given the Gen couldn't sample like the SPC700 did, relying completely on FM synthesis instead. Everyone thought "well, in comparision, the Genny sounds like shit".
Very far from the truth indeed, as these videos intends to show.
Twenty songs.
It is dedicated to only one person: my "bro". Not in the way of blood brother - as in "you're a cool guy". We constantly fight over which console is better as if we were still living in 1993. Whilst I'm not a rabid fanboy like he is (or I am... maybe, but to a lesser extent), I won't allow him OR ANYONE to badmouth the Genesis, as is one of my favorite consoles of all time.
He dared me, saying "the only thing that it had was Sonic", so I decided not to just not include any Sonic game, but to also leave out Street Fighter 2, and all Streets of Rage games, since they are amongst the most popular of the library.
I decided that it'd be far more interesting if I used only ONE song from each game. The only common denominator between these is the same sound chip.
I haven't played more than 50% of the games it had; I just picked some of my favorite tunes.
Sega CD and 32X games are out as well. No expansions. Just put the damn cartridges and listen!
I won't say the sources, but I'll give you some images. You're free to guess, if you feel like doing so.
Hey Bro! The Genesis was absolutely-fuckin'-awesome... deal with it!
DISCLAIMER: I do not own any of the songs or images portrayed here. All artists have been given credit. This video does not intend to infringe copyright, nor to make any profit.
PS: HURRAY! Movie Maker delivered a nice, crisp looking video! I'm so happy!
PS 2: Big thanks to Project 2612! You guys rock!
WOW! Very impressive tunes indeed. The Genesis is not to be underestimated.

@Dooke80 Totally, I tell you. And there will be more (assuming I get some time to pick up and edit all the data) just maybe not very soon. If nothing fails, there will be 4 parts, of 5 songs each.

@DboiKidCrisis Oh yes, yes I have! My love for SEGA won't vanish because of some stupid copyright claims.
There will be more if I have time, I assure you that.
