"Leave Her Johnny" 20th Maine Monument/Oates Rock 2008

"Leave Her Johnny Leave Her" is a sea shanty that is older then time itself, it tells the story of when the sailors of old would arrive home and part with the ship, the "her" not being a women but the ship. I have always loved this tune for it expresses the hardships and joys these seaman experience while traversing the open seas. As well no specific version of lyrics need be remembered, for each version was specific to the journey it was sung on.
