Let me attempt to harmonize Exodus 21:12 and Ezekiel 18:32: The government can and must punish murderers but God does not enjoy their death. In verse 31 of Ezekiel 18 God asks, "why will ye die?" as if, although He does not enjoy anyone's death, He knows that sometimes He must take life or allow it to be taken. That's what I love about God: He has love and justice. Let's not take pleasure in the death of anyone yet understand that sin has a necessary penalty. Thank God Jesus paid it all.
