Life With the Lyons Pt1

This sitcom started life on BBC Radio (1951-61), It was about a real life family, since all four stars were a showbiz family in real life (Married couple Ben Lyon and Bebe Daniels, with daughter Barbara Lyon and son Richard Lyon) It was turned into two feature films in 1954. The BBC sitcom version began on television with two series of four episodes from 29/06/55 until 12/07/56. This episode is from the BBC version, and features a young Sylvia Syms as the love interest. The series then jumped to ITV and Associated Rediffusion for three more series of between 9 and 13 episodes from 17/09/57 until 25/03/60. Female star Bebe Daniels wrote the scripts, making the transition easy.

Bebe and Ben were my Godparents and Jill Allgood the producer, was my Aunt. I have many fond memories.

And it would have been even nicer to HEAR the voices behind the faces seen here! I thought I'd gone deaf from cranking up the sound all weekend on my Freddie Flatulence & his Five Hot Toots album ("The Whoopee Cushion Serenade").

I assume this was made during Bebe & Ben's silent movie days, since I can't hear a word they're saying! What happened to the title cards? Too bad they couldnt have gotten their friends Rudolph Valentino or Rod LaRoque or Vilma Banky to guest star!

Great show ,but where's the sound..you almost have to read their lips
