Here is a song I created to help my 6th grade students study. I hope you enjoy.
This one's about you and me, the plants and the trees
We're all right where we should be
The food web is wide, food chain in a line
And it's made up of all you see
Decomposers, consumers
It starts with producers
Any kind of green plant that is making food from sunlight, uh
Using energy to make sugar, glucose like a syrup
Making wood, roots, and bark, leaves in the trees
Producers photosynthesizing growing reproducing, uh
From the soil nutrients decomposing action
Need plants for ecosystems being thrilling
Providing all energy photosynthesis it kills me
I swear that plants start the whole process moving
Then there are the consumers, you see
They are any organism that is feeding to live up
The main thing they can't do is making their own food
Excuse me they will eat producers they're feeding
And pardon me but they can eat fish and all kind of dish
Poppin bits and pieces in their mouths or what will fit
Some eat some of both take your pick not the opposite
Consumers stay the same, cause eating food depends on teeth
You know it when I tell you something
Cause it is herbivores that do the snacking on plants, trees, leaves
Cuz they're special stomachs, adapted for digesting
Grains, grasses, fruit-bearing and vegetables
Omnivores how they do it, why they do it
Was it cause they have molars, incisors inside their head
Can wait for things to drop dead, eat it
Or is it cause they feast also on plants
Balanced diet, yes cause they can, guess that's how they survive, you know it
What a different take
Carnivores hunting sharp teeth in skulls
As if they need energy
See they require calories
To power their bodies like gasoline
They'll need to eat meat
Now let these words be like an aide to your brain or your main frame
And let it be known from this day forward
I wanna say producers start the chain to give all strength
Herbivores, omnivores and carnivores see what they just ate

By the time you hear this there will be some dead animals outtie
Organisms eating on the dead, and feeding or chewing the waste of living bodies yes they are like garbage men really
Breaking down the dead, oh boy, cause they're going to eat it
And they ain't gotta stop to eat a minute
To tell you really we need 'em the plants use the nutrient components making their sugar
Tell you they're all sizes, and their shapes are varied
Can be bacteria all the way to shell fungus
Essential to ecosystem without them-waste piles up
So it's only right that they take their place in the system important yes important as the biggest animals
See a dead log they be eating for many years
Don't stop while we're at the top
Animals eating off a dead carcass
It's 'bout to be a scary prop (osition)
'Cause what grows up must come down
Scavengers find something eating everything they can eat like a sly fox
Every hour-happy hour now
Death is wacky now
Essential to the web breaking to bits and pieces
Now they're eating a dead cat meooww, ow
Oh, eating cows, always breaking down all the weight in half the time
Ya'll are food
You remember that the food chains are in that line
And the chain starts to the left with arrows
And their pointed to the right
Begins with plants to animals
Or producers to high level consumers
And then decomposers
Goes from low to high
But in an ecosystem a chain ain't so realistic so we use a web
Really, that's right
Animals connected like a web be like a bee-hive
And how real is that?
If an animal falls the ecosystem crumbles like a house of cards in fact
Now with the system stresses causes a real mess
You and I know that it's right that this system
Has to be right
But tonight maybe it's alright
So hold on real tight
Let it shine
