Jan's story.
We have a son of 36 who has been "minimally conscious" since he suffered brain damage due to a lack of oxygen twelve years ago.
Having seen the BBC documentary about the waking pill on the 04th of march 2008, we administered a Zolpidem pill to our son. Miraculously, after 30 minutes he seemed to come out of his "minimally conscious" state and began to act almost normally, he tried to speak, in what he succeeded, he took his food himself chewed well and swallowed, he took his drinking glass himself and started to drink, he laughed and was very alert something we hadn't seen in eleven years. We contiued to give him one pill of 10 mg every day. The outcome was the same every time, the pill worked during max six hours. On the sixth day the pill had no effect anymore. We waited four days and started again with the same results. Now we are trying to give one pill every two days to see if this works. (meer) (minder)

I am desperate about my Dad !

He is 75 years old , has just been surgery of left carotid and for other reasons had experienced a stop in breath and heart. Resut of that was lack of oxygen in brain!

After Two months He is in hospital , open eyes and move from one side to the other, eventually move one leg,not necessary responding to a command. If anybody can help with suggestions, I will be thanks forever......... I love my dad!!!!

  • We just started my son on it hope to see changes, God Bless You

  • how did he get lack of oxygen its in the air isn't it? please explain how this happened.

  • this is really amazing. hope the drug continues to work for him. i never would have thought ambien of all things could have this effect. even pharmacists i've talked to didn't know it could.

  • I wish every one all the very best ... my husband has brain damage, but is fully conscious - so not at all in the same position as your son.

I truly hope they discover how this medication works and build on it to bring about a permanent solution to your son's condition

  • A UK based Biotech called Regen Therapeutics has carried out a phase2a trial on Zolpidem in Coma, PVS & stroke. Their address and phone number is below. It may be worth contacting them to get your son in the next trial? I understand Wally Nell advise Regen (the Doctor from South Africa in the BBC programme). My Shocking Story "Coma Miricle on Sky is about this too.
