Craig Kielburger, founder of Free the Children, recipient of the Order of Canada and the latest recipient of an honorary doctor of humanities from the University of Windsor, gives his keynote address at the schools 92nd convocation on Saturday.
That was a really excellent speech. The university was wise to pick him for the convocation address.
I felt quite stirred up until he mentioned the little female Yoda. I haven't read Hitchens' book "The Missionary Position", but I have seen his documentary on YouTube about the woman. I think we have to be careful about making her the icon of charitable giving, since she's become such a tool for the Catholic church, which is really more of a business.
In fact this comment was meant for Craig personally, because I met him (very very)personally. Anyway...(you and I) have different opinions. For me every woman must be allowed to make her own choices as long as they are ethical responsible. In my vision there is nothing wrong with a woman being a priest.
Catholic women don't want to become priests! It would make sense, when you are a priest, your title is Father, a women is no made to be a father, she is made to be a mother! :) And Catholicism isn't about being perfect, of course we strive to be, only Jesus was perfect!
I have always had double feelings with the catholic church. On one hand they do a lot of good charitywork. On the other hand: people are human beings and it is impossible to be always that perfect catholic rolemodel. So there is always hypocrisy. And women are still discriminated! Catholic women can not become priests. Religion can give structure and lots of positive things to your live, but...I could never become a catholic!
@theurbansoul I don't think it has to do with equality! It's just two different roles!
