Love the video; brings back many memories of my mother taking us on the bus to the Fox theather for the movie "Old Yeller"; the rides on the Admiral; my first experience I remember was when I was 5 and my dancing school preformed. The street cars on Hodiamont and Delmar and our visit to the neariest White Castle at that time. Great childhood memories!
Wow! The memories. Remember seeing Ike & Tina Turner? My wife & I were on the Admiral when the water was so high that we clipped the Eads bridge with the stacks. I also remember going to the showboat for dinner & the show. Hissing the villain & him throwing out insults at the audience. I saw Rodan at the Fox and Stan Kahn played the organ. I also remember the wooden streetcars. As a tyke, my dad took me to Sportsman's Park to see The St Louis Browns. Satchel Paige pitched that day.
If we want a better city, we need to stay in it and build it. All this county living doesn't help the potential of St. Louis. The architecture, the hole in the wall gems, the parks, and the history can thrive through city living and restoration. Think about it.
You're right about the current status of North Grand, but St. Louis County is a great, safe place to live. Also, lots of new development in the downtown and midtown area. Areas of the city are unsafe but the county boasts a very nice lifestyle and the highway system will get you to downtown events quickly. Visit sometime and see all the positive changes.
Bob Kuban recently played at Guns 'n Hoses at Scottrade Center, formerly Kiel Auditorium, and he looks a bit older, but plays the same o same o hits he played back then.
Some places are still there, like Worlds Fair donuts, and the same people still running them. Carl's on Manchester - remember? I miss the Parkmour(s) and most of the old theaters, and Cyranos, and the Highlands, and ...
Love this video - lived on College Hill in the 50s - kept looking for my cousins, aunts and grandparents on the Admiral scenes - we went regularly for an afternoon excursion -
I love St. Louis. Born and raised there. Had to leave. Too much crime. Sad. Used to be a good, safe place to raise a family. Not so much now. I'd be shot walking near my child hood home now. North Grand at Highway 70 sure has changed..........I miss St. Louis. It used to be so cool, but now............

@shell19001 I'm with you there! There are a lot of these attractions, still, and many more with which to CREATE great memories for the kids today.
Lose the TV and be part of the City!

I love St. Louis and always will. This video makes three strong impressions on me:
1. Fast food is central to the culture.
2. Baseball was played at some point.
3. No black people lived in this rendition of St. Louis.
