This lesson echoes with the lessons about Counting in Chinese. It covers "How to Tell Year/Month/Date/Week in Chinese". I will soon be uploading "How to Ask for Telephone Numbers in Chinese". I am also paving the road for my next week's lesson on "Making Reservation in Hotels".

  • @darkhyarun thanks for watching! i am glad this video helps! :)

  • jina tian shi xing qi wu

  • @robinsupergenius1 Thanks for the comment. But more correctly, it'd be: "jintian shi xingqi wu". xiexie :)

  • In textbook (Beijing) Mandarin, the "期" in "星期" is pronounced in 1st tone, not 2nd tone as pronounced in the video. So the word "Saturday" (星期六) is pronounced "xing1 qi1 liu4" (Beijing) instead of "xing1 qi2 liu4" (Taiwan).

  • @stanleygsf Good comparison between Beiging Mandarin and Taiwan Mandarin. :)

  • @BobLeKatt Sorry for the typos.

  • When I lived in Taiwan, I had 6 motorcycle crashes. But I did not know what today and had to muddle through. It would be great to have a lesson on vocabulary such as "car accident", "Call and ambulance", "I have a flat tire", "My car won't start", "I am not injured", etc. Just a thought.

  • Hi Peggy - If someone asks only: "jintian shi ji hao?" . shouldnt the answer be only the day of the month? Or is this the complete date that is asked implicitly by this question.

I thought for the complete day, the question should be:

"Jintian shi ji nian, ji yue, ji hao?" Or this doesnt sound right?

  • I have a question. Is it also correct and commonly used if people were to instead ask: 今天是什么

  • Maybe you can remove one more button from your shirt. Nice cleavage by the way. Strange, never saw cleavage before in Chinese women until recent days.
