  • I think George Monbiot's level of aggression was a bit over the top for this guy. He doesn't seem to bullshit.

  • We should put energy experts in charge of governments, not politicians and economists which have no clue on natural resources. Seems kind of stupid to blame one single agency for short-sighted decisions made by local authorities around the world. The information on oil depletion is available for anyone with an internet connection nowadays.

  • Sounds like Mr Birol is saying that continued high demand for energy will force the use of Climate Destabilizing Tar Sands and Coal.

    Alternatively-

If enough of us create local Transition Initiatives to low energy use communities fast enough, we can prepare for Peak Oil, and hopefully also avoid Climate Destabilization.

  • Very good Interview.

  • George Monbiot accepts whatever he wants to as the truth as long as it fits snuggly into his agenda.

Why does he just accept at face value the conclusions of the International Energy Authority´s newer and more urgent results than the less dramatic earlier ones?
