All church musicians need to turn off the reverb on their instruments and simplify their chords. The natural reverberations of a church bury all of those beautiful parts.
You end up with air-pudding. I usually I cannot distinguish what the synth player is doing, and I have good ears.
And guitarists, playing jangly parts just clutters up everything. Perhaps we need a small group just to help them with their addiction.
You play the room as much as you play your instrument. Arrange accordingly.
