  • By far the worst book in existence. 150 years running.

  • 0:00:32 D.V. left unread = Deo Volente (Latin for godwilling). Incidentally, the only film version I know of this fine book that really does justice to it is the 1943 version with Joan Fontaine as Jane, Orson Welles as Rochester, and Margaret O'Brien as Adèle, of which there are a few fragments in English and rather more in a Spanish-dubbed version on YT, though nowhere could I find the whole movie. Book's moral: beware of marrying a spouse even slightly crazy she/he may well get a lot worse!
