U of M Twin Cities campus has the last coal burning power plant in Minneapolis!!! Let's get them to move beyond coal.
Some reasons why coal is bad and DIRTY: Each year 21,000 hospitalizations, 38,000 heart attacks and 24,000 deaths are
caused by pollution from coal plants
Coal plants are a leading contributor to global warming pollution, emitting more than
30% of the nation's annual carbon dioxide emissions
Coal plants are one of the largest sources of mercury pollution in the U.S., polluting
our lakes, rivers, and fish populations
Coal ash waste sites contain harmful levels of arsenic, lead, mercury, selenium,
aluminum and other toxins that can leach into groundwater
Coal mining is destroying the local economies, public health and natural resources
of rural communities across America
