A cover of the Moon Theme from Duck Tales, with a small "cartoon" thrown in for good measure.

How does that program work? What does it do exactly?

It's written in 6502 assembly. It programs the NES hardware (draws background, moves sprites, generates audio), like a normal NES game would. I don't know if that answers your question.
