I had to replace the oil pressure sending unit due to a leak. Also I removed the valve covers and checked out the pushrods.

  • hey chad. i like your idea about the pbc blaster. i am working on a 81 dodge pickup with a 318, and it dont have a rocker prob. but it was sitting for awhile. the lifters make some noise. i'm thinking that may help. now that i got it running, it dont make the noise so much. i am also replacing the covers and gaskets. i found a vintage pair of mt cast alum. covers to help with the leakage. i also think that the rockers shold not have any play as well. i'll check mine. any thoughts?? thanks!

  • How long since the oil was changed on your truck? I know also on my 1974 GMC bus there was lifter noise and an oil change and filter cured it. You might try some Marvel mystery oil mixed in with the oil, and then change the oil and filter.

  • did you ever fix that old ford air compressor?

  • Not yet but I will! I'm thinking I have a bad cable from the coil to the distributor.

  • I love huge cars :) What engine does it have?

  • Thanks! It is a 400 CID.

  • hey chad - I have a 2000 Grand Marquise - my hubby is attempting to change out the timing belt - the problem is we can't get the right valve cover off - any suggestions?

  • lol, i meant Trunk*

  • Have a locksmith make a key, perhaps?

  • Change the lock on the truck, so you actually have a key to get into the trunk.

  • i had an oil leak on a 84 buick regal 3.8 motor and it was the oil pressure switch.thank you this post helped me out alot

  • i would probably tighten that rocker if i were you...im sure it has a certain torque spec that it should be tightened to...any service manual for that car should have it...i would check the other rockers as long as i was at it too...

  • I bought a 78 Marquis....they didnt give me the trunk key either.

  • have you considered torquing down the rocker arm bolts?
