  • I'm going into children's nursing. I heard you only get 7 weeks holiday a year. Is that true? Do you get unofficial holidays to make up for it?

  • @Bibbabble i was told that as well haha. You actually get more. For instance, this year i had 4 weeks for christmas (including study leave), 3 at easter and about 5-6 for summer (august - mid septemeber when the next year starts).

so its a lot better than u think!! quite a bit of that is stated as "study leave" even if you have no exams to study for - makes them feel better about giving us the time off i think lol xxx

  • brilliant video, i love your facial expressions... how long are your clinical days? we have only two days at hospital, in 12 hour shilft

  • @zinalar59 - thank u! :) i knooow, i've been told i have a lot of facial expressions haha. My clinical days are generally 8 hours, but sometimes I do 2 long days which are 14 hours in the hospital or 12 in community :)

and in reply to your other comment - not sure how many really, i'd say about 250ish - only 42 child nurses left from 50 so far

  • Hey, I start placement next monday. I am sooo excited I was getting really bored of theory so i cant wait to just get out there. :D I dont get an elective until 3rd year and i would love to go abroad but we have to fund it ourselves so it might be better to do my elective where i want to work. did you have to pay for yours? x

  • @LifeofaStudentNurse - yea unfortunately i do have to pay for it myself, i think most universities make u do this because its a luxury to go away from ur university and they provide u a placement in ur area :) xx

  • Thank you for taking the time to make these videos; they're very helpful :)

  • brilliant video, i love your facial expressions... how long are your clinical days? we have only two days at hospital, in 12 hour shift..... btw how many of your 300 students are left?

  • @beautiful05Xx - all the nurses were lovely and really wanted to help u out in any way they could to make u feel comfortable on ur placement :)

u need to be able to multiple and divide :) yes nurses do use calculators but my mentors like to test me without :P also in the exams i was not allowed to use a calculator

thank u soo much!! :) xxx

  • @ShweeTiieHunni - I have 2 exams (pathology and pharmacology) and they are both multiple choice questions - some short questions and some extended where they're like patient situations :)

you could have a part time job if u wanted...but i wouldn't recommend it as u need to have some down time to relax :) also because of shift work u cant guarantee when ull be free for a job xxx
