U.S. Marine helicopters and their crews from New River Air Station in Jacksonville, NC visited Camp Tuscarora each week during summer camp in 2009. The Scouts had the opportunity to go inside one of the largest helicopters in the world and the biggest ever built in the United States. The Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion is the largest helicopter in military service. The Marines joined our Scouts for dinner in the dining hall and afterward took time to brief them on the CH-53E, answer questions and conduct tours. Both Camp Lejeune and New River Air Station are home to the largest Marine force in the world.
