  • So your boy here has no helmet. Is his brain optional?

  • @bombaykaizoku

No, we are as concerned about safety as most cyclists....we just didn't want to impose any creative restrictions on the film makers who submitted the videos.

  • how much?

  • @oliverchange

    $10 at your local shop!

  • Ok, great product but NOT a substitute for wearing a helmet like the guy in the video seems to think. Obviously cycle helmets don't look "cool" and therefore don't fit with the image that the video is trying to portray but there are a lot of idiot motorists out there who won't stop for you even if you shine a light so powerful it burns their retina!

I work with brain injury patients so I've seen the kind of effect RTAs can have on people's lives. ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET WHEN CYCLING!

  • @Jahooly

I and everyone in our office always wear a helmet when cycling too...but as you pointed out about the them of this...we didn't want to pose any guidelines on the producers of the video. It was a good video... we don't think we encourage NOT using helmets.

  • Nice video. Relaxing, i must say. But considering Cateye is now quite renown for putting out cheap quality lights at super-high prices, i wouldn't want to add to their coffers with this product, even though it's good. I'll go with other makes.

  • @reidbeloni it's a flip-flop wheel. the other side is fixed.

  • @SuperStimuli No. Cracknell was lucky. Theres evidence his body slumped out of the way as he was hit.

Read the recent Norwegian Erke and Elvik research. reassessed at 48% effectiveness in minor crashes. The key word is "minor", they've also found evidence that theres a 14% increased risk to helmeted cyclists through others' actions.

Its like saying a thick wooley hat is defence from a motor. People need to see the limitations

  • @downfader2 A cycle helmet is some defense against a motor vehicle - just ask James Cracknell or anyone else who is alive today because they were wearing one when they got hit by a motorist. Given that you can't trust every single idiot on the road to drive safely all the time, you should wear a helmet whilst cycling.

  • @Jahooly That's why I wear full face helmets. They look cool are and provide more protection against crashes. Which I have come to experienced

  • The spoke lights seems pretty good to get some visibility from the side with, when i get a new bike i will get some :)

  • how come this hipster's bike isn't fixed? I bet he is the laughing stock of all his cigarette smoking friends.

  • I've got to say riding all over pavements is illegal and not wearing a helmet is stupid.

I also just don't think the video gave the impression that these lights make you stand out much, they looked quite dim.

  • @jzy0104

There are two types of lights for bikes, directional lights for illuminating the road in front and non-directional which are intended to make the rider more visible to other road users. These lights fit in the latter category.

Additionally, the former type of light is often not necessary as many cities (especially in Europe) have enough ambient light for safe riding. But not enough for riders to always be immediately visible to others, hence these lights.
