After about a year of waiting for Xorg to release an xorg-server that didn't lock up on my Linux machine. 1.8.1.902 was tested on my machine, and it worked! I patched it with a hacked xineramainfo performed by yours truly and set up dual twinview across 2 monitors each, then stitched it all together with xinerama. I'm sure 3D acceleration doesn't work right, but thats OK for me because I don't do gaming and don't need wobbly window effects. This machine is used for day-to-day desktop applications as well as business operations and video editing.

  • Nice work. What is wrong with the monitor I use to work at a TV repair place.

  • @chuxxsss1 Something is wrong with a monitor?

  • wow that is great.

  • @emiel1976ep Thanks! Still using this setup although one of the monitors took a dump a few months ago. I have a little monitor in its place until I get around to fixing it.

  • @vvtheduckvv I wanted 2 screens and I have it now on my P4 but that are 2 5" but I want now 4 screesn that are bigger and like you have and maybe 6 screens.

I must wait till I have a new pc to do that.

Is it now easier toe do with the newer Linux versions or is Xorg still causing problems?

  • @emiel1976ep Its still just as difficult as it ever was to impliment it properly.

  • @rutgerjaap Actually, it runs better on fullscreen, but across all screens with Xinerama its slow, yes. Without Xinerama it runs great! :-D

  • @theooze1

my comment got submitted twice - not sure why but it wasn't spam.

do you have the hacked xcinerama file? also - did you have 3d effects (compiz) working ?

i have a quad monitor setup working pretty well, except for xcinerma + compiz.

  • nice nice very nice , so many displays in the same device.

I too wish to expand my linux video real estate.

I'm just not sure how much research and bs I'm willing to go thru for it.

  • I am trying to setup 3 and I am having major issues. I can get the two working just fine, but I am having issues getting the third radeon HD 6570 card to work for the other one or two. Could you post a link to your xorg file or some sort of blog tutorial? Much appreciate. Thanks.
