Please sign the petition for a DVD release of the phenomenal BBC documentary "Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives". It features Eels leader Mark Oliver Everett on his journey across America to learn more about his famous father, Hugh Everett III, founder of the Many Worlds Theory.

  • And I don't have anything against homosexuality

  • Note that almost every book promoting it is 'new age', and 'phycisists' agreeing are mostly young, to which they then reply, that they are still open minded, and more older people don't like homosexuality,

I'm serious, they are a bunch of freaks

  • The rejection of Everett's theory is in my opinion mainly a sociological phenomenon, unlike any other in physics. I suspect that it is rooted in the intellectual intimidation of physics students, and in a complex niche that yearns for quantum mysticism in the general public. As a result, many physicists are reluctant to discuss the issue at all, and they couch their opinions in platitudes or equivocation.

  • to have someone only talk to proponents of his fathers theory, is probably the most dumb thing to do.

If this comes out on DVD I think it should include another dvd which interviews randomly selected famous physicists, and you will find that you would be very lucky if you coincidentally find one proponent. Note I only asked randomly selected astrophysicists and theoretical physicists, the group most likely to believe it anyway.

Deutsch says the following about the unpopularity of his believes:

  • a extremely small minorites view, in fact the far majority of scientists believe it's utter crap,

this idea has the serious potential of messing people up. It also has a guy calling a girl that committed suicide and thought she may meet her dead father in a parallel universe, a smart girl. Perhaps she is a smart girl, but this is probably one of the worst proofs for it.

Everyone should be ashamed that worked on this documentary (maybe E a little less, because he doesn't have any knowledge)

  • This is the worst documentary I have ever seen, I've conducted a poll about this subject with famous physicists, these are the outcomes C: 18 (reject)

    D: 7 (don't know yet)

A: 1 (yes, but not physical)

b: 2 (1 yes, but didn't thought it meant parallel universes, or copies, but just the unitary evolution of the wave function, 1 yes

currently there is no noble laureate who says he believes in this theory (in any form that involves copies, etc). This documentary only has proponents, and...

    this is

  • @HonkIfYouLoveHonking We exist in all of those universes ,

but we're not conscious of activity or feelings in them.Unless we interact with

them when we dream while sleeping?Dreams are like reality sometime but

    not our waking reality.

Farfetched? Isn't quantum physics farfetched.Relativity is certainly counterintuive.

Keep asking your questions to yourself, but stop looking for comfortable

answers. It's going to lead you where you never expected.

Write me if you'd like to discuss more!

  • @fntime But there'd have to be universes completely different from this one depending on the widespread influence of someone in the past making a wrong decision. Like starting a nuclear war for example. Why are we here and not in some other (like a post nuke war universe). What decision did we make to end up here Unless there's something that I'm missing, this is complete nonsense. These alternate universes would have to be superimposed over the one we are living in. Just a tad farfetched.

  • @HonkIfYouLoveHonking Not an expert,but I think a whole 'new' parallel universe

is created, with just a slight difference. The observer choosing creates it. There might

be trillions of trillions of trillion universes, each almost the same.

Question" Am I answering your question in your universe or are you asking a question

    in my universe.

I saw the whole show & thought the people were interesting but there wasn't

a whole lot of answer if you're already familar with parallel universes.

  • What I didn't get was why when some quantum event happened, in order for the universe to split into an parallel universe wouldn't every particle in the universe have to "agree" to go along? And wouldn't that be impossible?
