"My Coloring Book" was a tune you thought had to have been written by a girl, but actually two guys had a hand in this, Fred Ebb and John Kander. There were three popular recordings of the song all released in 1962, one by Sandy Stewart, another by Barbra Streisand, and this the biggest selling version by Kitty Kallen. Kitty had sung with several of the great big bands during the 1940's including stints with Jimmy Dorsey and Harry James. She became a popular solo singer during the 1950's where she scored a big hit with "Little Things Mean A Lot" in 1954. Her version of "My Coloring Book" peaked at #18 on the pop charts in January of 1963.
ty lanny...another almost forgotten gem...you'd never hear this on any radio station in America today...OH NO...it's has tro have been either #1, 2 or 3....certainly nothing outside the top 5...most programmers at radio stations today are completely lost and actually have NO power in what is played....very sad!
