@rottensaliva Actually, I'm pretty sure that's not a filter he's using; it's a Boss pitch shifter. But no, it's not particularly difficult to play. Just some feedback put through an EHX Micro POG and a Boss Slicer, plus more feedback put through the pitch shifter and also through the Slicer.

It's surprising how many of their "synth" sounds are just John dicking around with feedback on his pedalboard.

Dancing guy tweaks filter and slicer...that's it... instead of those sick dance moves he could support frontman with vocals... some nice harmonies like on studio version... this song is not that difficult to play ("synth guy" could play it with just a few buttons on his sp-404 :P)... they should pay more attention to details. But from the other hand 80% of hipsters won't tell the difference... so why bother? :P
