As the owner of a first generation Kaypro IV, I coveted one of these with a 10 MEG HD! I couldn't justify the few hundred dollars more it would have cost a struggling grad student, ;-)

I love the sound of those old HDD's spinning up!
Yesterday I've bought a Kaypro 4, not in such mint condition but running and booting, these machines are bulletproof!
Now let's find a way to get some more software for it, I've got loads of floppys and drives, only to figure out how to get one of those drives working on my laptop :D

When I was in High school, (1992!?) at a boarding school, I had one of these for writing papers. The HD went on it, so I used it and MSBasic to write letters to my parents.
My father used his Kaypro 2X from 1985 til 1994. Yikes.
