Dom Flemons from the Carolina Chocolate Drops and Rowan Corbett from Tinsmith met for the first time at the Folk Alliance artist showcase in Memphis, Tennessee on February 26th, 2007 around 2:00am on the 11th floor of the Merriott Hotel. Both being black bones players, they both took the opportunity handed to them and proceeded to jam. It was fortunately caught on film. Living Blues's Scott Baretta and blues singer Alvin Youngblood Hart watch in the background. For more info on each of the player's bands, go to carolinachocolatedrop.com and tinsmith.net
After I saw this I had to go out a get myself a pair of bones. Joy is just exuding from Dom Flemons. I am so inspired.

My Granny is an expert bones player. She can't move like she used to and can only play for a couple minutes at a time. I just bought my first pair last week. I'm determined to learn to carry on a family tradition. Thanks for the inspiration! (I'm getting a little misty-eyed writing this).

My first exposure to bones came through my interest in Irish music. I soon learned of their presence in the Black community (kinda in the tradition of ham boning) but this is my first encounter of folks actually playing. Brothers, you're an inspiration! Thanx!
