  • @sasha06081 Yaaaaayy, first hater comment :D

  • BAH! he looks just like my shiba!! her name is Tails from sonic the hedgehog

  • @JacXrad OMG, that's such a good name for a shiba xD suitable as in speed and in the tail :D

  • I am looking for a play mate for my border collie. Can some Shiba Inu owners tell me about their energy levels? Are they energetic enough to go hiking and still have it in them to play or are they generally just good for a couple walks around the block?

  • @Ebonyfox2

Both actually, if you will take them for a walk around the blok, they will be satisfied, but they will happily go hiking with you 2, especially when it's cold because they have a double layerd coat. And their energy levels can vary alot. We have 2 shiba's now and 1 of them is the calmest dog i've ever seen, and the other is very active. They love playing together, they can go on for hours But in general shiba's will adapt to your habits. :) I hope this helped

  • Actually, I think Shiba is a breed with few features from cats.

  • Oh, poor kitty. Sorry to hear that he died. D: But I bet he had a good life with you. :)

  • @ManRuin - Shiba inus were bred to hunt small game, deer, boar, and even bears. So being bred to hunt (they're classified non-working group now) they do have a strong prey drive. But shibas are also very catlike, so that's something to take into consideration. Generally though, whether a dog get's along with cats is usually more of a dog to dog sort of thing (or even cat to cat).

  • @Ebonyfox2 -They are athletically up to snuff with anything you would do with your border collie. They are just as intelligent (maybe more depending on how you rate them) as a BC. The BIG difference is that shibas are far more independent. While BCs are generally easy to train, shibas are much harder. You have to mean what you say with them. A BC and a shiba to me would be a good mix, particularly if the BC was trained prior to getting the shiba. The shiba might be easier to train than normal.

  • @ManRuin shiba inus are very similar to cats. its the best breed to hold together with cats.

  • @ManRuin no, lars was run over by a car ;), they won't harm any of our cats, we still have all of our 3 cats we also had in 2008 and in the meantime we got another shiba :). the only thing is that they kinda killed one of our chickens, but not even from their bite, the chicken was so scared that it died from being in a shock xD. these dogs were bread to hunt poultry and bears

  • Stupid cats!!!

  • AWwww sorry to hear about your cat. and This makes me really want to get a shiba! they are so cute! Thus why when I get one if I do, Im gonna name it Fox McCloud , or Robin Hood lol
