My gosh, what a bunch of Socialists, here among the comments!
The internet is THE vibrant and growing communications source because it is not much restricted....it's a free market approach. Why would we want government involvement? Should any ISP decide to restrict access, they'll lose market share. That simple, actually. Same with speed. If you want more, buy more! Nothing is free. I'll buy mine and you buy yours.
Net neutrality mean every site gets the same speed and the same ability to access so that ISPs don't get to play favorites and give the preferential treatment to some sites at the expense of others. This mealy-mouthed asshole deserves to have his balls kicked good and hard.
We all agree with Obama that Occupy is a TOTAL FARCE.
For Wall Street investors like us, its business as usual, these pathetic riots mean very little.
Go ahead and protest in your police-ridden gutters, we'll keep on raking in unprecedented profits with Obama's blessings from the safety of our corporate highrises.
The future is BRIGHT, its Obama for 2012!!
Together our wealth will secure worlds, together we will soon see change, its the natural evolution of this nation and our elected President!
I think the "Digital Divide" and "net neutrality" projects are part of government-controlled internet. Taxpayers already provide free cell phones for those on government assistance. You can get internet service at any public library.Seems to me "too many are riding in the wagon and not enough PULLING!"
I'm not sure if this is intentional or not, but this is a bad misrepresentation of Net Neutrality. Net Neutrality says nothing about paying for increased bandwidth or speed, those are all still perfectly fine under Net Neutrality plans. What Net Neutrality does is prevent companies from charging different amounts based on the "content" of the bits. The goal is prevent Comcast from charging NBC a different amount to send the exact same amount of data at the same speed as CBS.
Embarrassingly bad (and false) explanation. Seek other sources for info on this topic.
ISPs can still manage their networks, they just can't undercut their competitors' traffic by degrading or blocking it. You can also still purchase more bandwidth and higher speeds.
