My research and the results so far have inspired me to build a full scale Bashar STA coil. This episode goes over some of the design specs for the coil I built this last week-end. I am looking forward to better understanding the magic that occurs with large inductance, high Q, and frequencies down in the VLF and LF part of the spectrum. I can really see now that this device intends to pick up energy between 14.3khz and 200khz if you closely wrap larger gauge wire. I found a paper that shows that lightning strikes around the world can't transmit above about 225khz or so. Most of their energy is at 80Khz. Solar events such as flares and sun storms, etc. are hitting the earth and inducing energy in this range. Therefore, if you are attempting to receive using an air-coil, you need a LARGE one. Measuring the coil's inductance shows that it is larger than the cone formula would predict -- but I admit my measuring method was crude and may be flawed in some way. I am excited that the inductance is so large at approx. 2.5mH per coil.

  • So, how do we get energy out of this? I am not an Electrical Engineer, But I am really interested in knowing more on this

  • @darthniq

I attempted to demonstrate that in many of these videos. The coil responds to "received" energies. If you place it in a room with no nearby power sources, the coil is dormant. Put it near CFL lights, or a plasma ball, you can pull energy from the coil. Put it outside during the day, radiant energy can be received (but the power is low). More experimentation is needed to better understand the relationship between geometry and received power.

  • buena musica!!!!

  • @yonifiel

    gracias

  • nice build, so about 500 ft is the minimum hmm?

thinkering about what multicored (signal/phone) cable would add about the variaty of connections and loops

  • @Lupinlethird

My thinking here is that hum is good .. noise is good .. glitches are good ... All these things ADD to the power reception. Unlike RADIO where you want to reduce static, noise, etc. In this case, we want to enhance it. So we need to think a bit opposite. If this coil was placed in a metalic tetrahedron capacitor, it is SHIELDed, but the tetrahedron is NOT ... and it can easily pass energy into the coil inside.

  • wow, your wife must be really tolerant of your projects. Thats nice.

Interesting design, I hope things go well!

  • I'm glad that you are revising your experiment to be full scale. I have had a similar experience with my tesla coils where to reach the optimum resonance they had to be a certain size and coil windings wire size ect. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
