Post Carbon Institute Ecology Fellow Stephanie Mills discusses the challenge of informing the American citizenry of the gravity of peak oil, energy scarcity and the environmental impact of consumptive living. Mill questions the effectiveness of disasters as teaching aids.
@sangolt88 Amen.
I can't get through the day without seeing or hearing the word "Kardasian".
I hate mainstream media with a passion.
MTV and TMZ are disgusting and I wish someone would nuke them.

We are in the dark ages of culture and awareness. 200 years ago, it was popular to address questions that matters for society, and art, poetry etc. Now, most people, at least my age, are more interested watching the garbage on TV instead of doing thinking, research, making up your own mind of things about politics and life and society.

Why cant we all ride bicycles like the Dutch, it might not solve everything, but it will be a good start, it will not hurt with the obesity problem either.

Tear up the lawn and plant a garden (think permaculture) and be sure to include potatoes and dried beans/peas.

Look at the viewing statistics for "peak oil". Now compare them to the latest idiotic trend video and there you go. I want the bulk of my tax dollars to go for alternate energy development, we need every building in the US to have solar panels yesterday. But I find the countries scrambling to get set-up for the resource wars, how sad. Bye bye fellow billions of humans, the only time in history so many of could exist at one time and we blew it.
