    I am pretty sure I heard that there were NO materialized views, all detailed records. The problem with these solution is usually response times. They have to be consistently fast across the board or the usage and adoption just isn't there. And creating new materialized views for each use case isn't practical. So, if you want something with broadly excellent response times, Exalytics is appears to be one (maybe the only) way.

    Nice demonstration, but it is incorrect that it is only possible with Exalytics. Exalytics might be the best way, but I was doing that 5 years ago with 4 billion rows on a cheap Intel server. The trick is materialized views with rollups.

    I didn't have a pretty GUI. Mine was a proof of concept using mod_plsql. But the query response time was the same.
