This is actually stock footage, made in America. Bits and pieces of it can be seen in PIFs, PSAs and Posters all over the place.

Fire, like drinking and driving, gets a big push at Christmas, largely because of those fairy lights, which presumably kill thousands upon thousands every year in this way. This came out a year or two ago, I think - or it might even be completely brand new, I don't even remember. Either way, it makes it one of the last COI fire PIFs. What may become of campaigns such as Fire Kills and THINK! after the Office is closed down I don't know. It depends on how much or how little the Cabinet Office choose to engage with the functions they'll inherit.

Wouldn't this just get people to stop buying fairy lights? If they set on fire during the day you're probably just as likely to get burnt to death.

@locutus155 I've become almost wistful for the old fashioned Christmas lights. I miss the brighter colours. And the fact that you could heat a small room with an outdoor set.

I'm quite surprised they even bother given that modern fairy lights are all low voltage led ones and do not generate the same heat as old style lights.

They used American (NIST) footage as the base of this video. Not surprising, I guess - not only does it fit the format well in terms of running time, but it's also among the scariest such videos out there.
