I think Light screwed himself over by killing the FBI agents, that started the suspicion. If he let them live, he'd never be suspected again...but still this is one of those anime's or manga's that should be used in English class. So much more useful and filled with real life themes then the other shit.

Light allowed his idea to grow and he began to manipulate people as Kira. So, his idea grew and he gain power little by little. He eventually capitalize and Near just drew the line to connect the dots.

You know, you have to admit all Light wanted was to have a criminal free world, and it's sort of sad to see him die because i bet anyone else who picked that up would've also tryed to accomplish Light's goal. Even though it seems that he is bad because of what he was doing, all he was actually doing was to protect himself from the police. If you had a mass killing spree, you would probably want to finish off the police too. The basic point is the Death Note shows how one person can make a change

Light is kinda like macbeth. He goes insane over power and gets overconfident. When he was facing L he never would have pulled off such a huge move that would risk everything

I have to say that I personally don't give a flying rats a-- about Kira. But, Light Yagami is a totally different person in my eyes.
The Difference People:
-Kira (A Cold, Manipulative, Murdering, Lying, Bastard)
-Light Yagami( A Smart, Great, Kind-Hearted, Man)
Maybe that's why L was so hesitant on thinking that Light was Kira. The boy is a good man. He just swerved from his main goal and lost his way. That's all I have to say.
