These commercials aired on local CBS affiliate KPIX on December 2nd, 1984. Thanks to my Aunt & Uncle for recording these.

1. Toyota
2. Promo for "Evening Magazine" (With Kim Novak being assaulted by a horse it looks like)
3. CBS Sports Commercial Bumper (Brought to you by Cadillac, Miller High Life, and General Motors. Love those cheerleaders and their sexy rain ponchos!)
4. Cadillac El Dorado (If owning a Cadillac El Dorado is your only dream in life, you need to get some better dreams)
5. Miller High Life
6. Gleem
7. General Motors (I'm waiting for *The Flying Car*)
8. TRW (This commercial blew my mind several times)
9. Promo for "Kenny & Dolly: A Christmas To Remember" (My Christmas special circuits just overloaded)
10. Miller High Life (Nothing beats a good nostalgic 80's Christmas commercial. Nothing)
11. Limited Edition Miller High Life Stein (OMG, now I know what to get every member of my family for Christmas this year. Thanks Miller!)
12. Cadillac Seville (The rear end on that thing is hideous...)
13. Colony (I'm sorry Colony, but until your wine is endorsed by Orson Welles, I'm going to stick with Paul Masson, thank you very much)
14. Promo for "Circus Of The Stars" (There's nothing more exciting than the thought of your favorite celebrities potentially getting mauled by a lion!)

  • Hey who were the Atlanta Falcons playing this day and do you still have the whole game?

  • @acetrain81 Maybe. I'd have to check the original DVD I recorded to see if the game was recorded off of the tape. On many of them I only recorded the commercials.

  • wow, who knew kim novak was on a local tv station.

  • "Evening Magazine" was technically a show on a local TV station, but there's a huge difference in production value/budget when it comes to a show produced for a large TV market like the SF Bay Area. Also, I think she lives around here.

  • Whatever happened to digital gauges in cars? I had a 1988 Thunderbird with digital gauges

  • TONS of cars have them these days.

  • christmas commercials seemed cozier in the 80s/early 90s

  • Gleem is a pretty awful name for a product.

...and A Company Called TRW? Is that kinda like A Tribe Called Quest, you gotta say the whole thing?

  • Anyone notice the voice over artist on the "sweat the details" commercial? It was actor Richard Widmark!

  • They should put "Circus of the Stars" on DVD. Extra points if they find and use a copy with the original commercials. Hell, they should do a 10-DVD box set of 1980s commercials. Plus one for each other decade except the 2000s and 2010s.

  • i wish i was born in the 50's- that way i could enjoys the 90s/80s and by the time it hits 2004 (personally thats when the world went downhill) i would be old.

  • When I was 18, I was most assuredly not dreaming about one day owning an El Dorado. Now that I'm 34, I'm still not dreaming about one day owning an El Dorado. Owning a Ferrari or a Porsche--yes. A Cadillac--no.

I think being assaulted by a horse is better than being thrown off a bell tower. Not much better, but better.

It's surprising how few Christmas ads there were. During 2010's NFL December games, it seemed that every other commercial was Christmas themed.

  • @acetrain81 The Falcons were hosting the 49ers. San Francisco won 35-17.

  • Memories. Thx for the post. Marlon

  • im getting nostalgia watchin this and im only 17
