In the movie there was some talk about that Gotham needs a hero with a face. Therefore it is better if they blame it on batman instead of Harvey Dent who is the one everyone sees as a hero. A hero with a face.

i understand what your saying but i think what Gordan means is that Gotham is a bad city and they deserve somebody to break up the crime for once. They need somebody to stop the crime fully, which batman did not do since people died due to him not taking off his cowl. Thus batman is the hero they deserved at that point, but they need somebody to always be there making sure absolutaly nothing goes wrong. sorry that was very confusing haha but you made a good point

no because the hero that gotham needs is harvey dent! since batman took the fall for dent so gotham could have his faith rewarded and hes not a hero hes a silent gurdain, a watcahful procteter the Dark Knight!

Because everyone knew that Harvey killed them, and Batman wanted Harvey to have a clean record and taking the blame on his own shoulders. Hope this helped.

No because batman believes that gotham needs a hero with a face, because that gives people more to believe in and relate to. Its kind of hard to look up to a masked man, as opposed to a harvey dent, who they still believe is the good guy cuz they didnt see his whole violent episode with abducting the kids and stuff. They deserve him because of all the shit that happens in gotham, they deserve a better protector, but they relate better to harvey so he's not the one they need. idk that my view lol
